30 day song challenge 14/30

Day 14

A song you’d love to be played at your wedding

Anathema – dreaming light

I used to be a big fan of Anathema. They had a song for every situation and every emotion. Over the years and after their split, I listened less and less. But when I heard this song again randomly, I was reminded of the magic of this band and their powerful music. Some of you know that I collaborated with Dan Cavanagh (guitarist, songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist of Anathema) on two of my poetry songs. It’s a privilege and never taken for granted. He’s a good man.

As for why this should be played at my wedding? Just listen to the lyrics. They are beautiful. You see, at my wedding, there was not a lot of music. Gasp. Yes, it’s true. We had a one man show, a friend of my dad’s and someone who is known in Luxembourg, but to be honest, it was sooooo disappointing… Not at all what I wanted. If I could redo our wedding, I would. And I would make it more unapologetically us. Music included. And yes, I would absolutely 100% marry the same guy again.

It’s never too late to join in on the fun. Which song would you have chosen? And what did you think about this one?

  1. Gorgeous song! I made a CD mixtape of favorite songs chosen by Michael and me to be played at our little wedding celebration. Among them were “Happy Together” by the Turtles, “Two Hearts” by Phil Collins, “I Only Want to Be With You” by Dusty Springfield and “For All We Know” by the Carpenters. All pretty sappy, but we love them.

    1. Patrick and me often don’t have the same tastes in music which makes it a bit difficult to find common ground there… But your songs sound lovely. And to be honest, a celebration of love is allowed to be sappy ❤️

      1. Michael’s music tastes are more conservative than mine, though he does like a fair amount of the music I love, like from Foals, Lord Huron, twenty one pilots, Beach Weather and lovelytheband. Just nothing too dark or hard lol.
