The forgotten path

Pressed against the pane, my hands ache to reach,
Yearning to break this barrier, this unseen breach.
Inside, the world moves on, vibrant and free,
While I stand, trapped, longing to be.

My breath clouds the glass, obscuring the view,
A veil that mocks my desperate plea to break through.
The warmth of life, I’ve been without – all denied,
My spirit feels crushed, my dreams have died.

I watch them pass, unaware of my plight,
Oblivious to the darkness that shrouds my sight.
Their carelessness, always the same
It echoes within as a symphony of my pain.

Oh, to be free, to feel the sun’s embrace,
To walk the path, to find my place.
But the walls hold firm, unyielding and unkind,
Trapping my soul, leaving hope forever behind.

I’m a ghost, a shadow unseen,
Longing to shatter the glass, to break the serene.
I wither, my spirit grows dim,
Desperate to join the world, to be a part of it all, not just a whim.
