What if I am but a shadow,
Trapped within an unseen cage?
My essence, a fleeting echo,
Longing to break free from this stage.
I yearn to soar beyond these walls,
To feel the wind upon my face,
To dance with the light, untethered,
And leave this hidden, lonely place.
Am I but a faint reflection,
A mere fragment of what could be?
Yearning to find my true purpose,
To live, to breathe, to finally be.
Yet, within this shroud of darkness,
A spark of hope still burns inside,
Igniting a fire of passion,
To shatter the chains that confide.
I will not be silenced, forgotten,
Nor resigned to this unseen fate.
I will rise, reclaim my power,
And break free from this invisible gate.

Last year around this time, I scribbled a sentence down: What if I am but a shadow in an invisible cage? To be honest, I am not sure if it is my own line or if I heard it somewhere in a song, but that line inspired the above poem.
Thoughts?
