Vocational training

One thing I love about my job is that we are required to assist to many hours of vocational and educational training every year. Many of my colleagues don’t like it. It’s often theory (something I like) or laced with practical examples, group work, role playing (which I hate) and things like that.

Most trainings can be chosen freely, as long as they are in relation to the work one does. But since I started a new career, I have to do 66 hours that everyone starting to work with the ministry of education has to do. Furthermore, I need to add 42 more hours of my own choosing.

This afternoon, (after teaching this morning), I went to a training about autism and autism-spectrum-disorder. It was all theory but very interesting. 5 hours flew by. Next week, part two of this training will be a lot more practical. What’s nice is that we are all in the same boat, have similar experiences and problems with our pupils.

I have many teachings in different areas, from speech development (which I find very interesting) to motricity, cognitive development, how to do homework correctly, behaviourally creative children, mindfulness, yoga with kids, mothers having trouble bonding with their kids, healthy food, allergies, now autism too… You get the drift.

I really like my job and the diversity it allows. There are many great jobs an educator can do here in Luxembourg. And let me assure you, I had some. Hehe… Right now, I am a preschool teacher and I love that a lot.

I am tired and hungry… Have a nice evening
