I know… Spotify is surrounded by many controversies. We all know that indie artists are ripped off and that they get next to nothing for a stream. In fact, they need to pay to have their music on the platform. And yet, I am a lazy person who likes music. I buy a lot of music, which is no excuse for using (the paid version of) Spotify. I am torn about it, for sure. But I have been using this app for more than 10 years and these end of year playlists are always a bit of fun. For me, they are seldom representative for the entire music year. But yeah, they are fun anyway and there are awesome songs that meant something when I played them. They still do in their own right.
In the hopes of not losing your respect… Here is my wrapped for 2023

I too feel conflicted about Spotify and its terrible treatment of independent artists, but I love its convenience and the ability it gives me to create my weekly top 30 playlists that I can then share on my blog posts. I suppose I could do the same with Apple Music…

I know what you mean.
Personally, I have never used an Apple product…

I’ve purchased songs on iTunes in the past, but other than that, neither have I.
