It’s just after midnight, Friday is a bit more than 90minutes old in my neck of the woods. I am not asleep, of course I am not. When I don’t work I don’t seem to get to bed at a reasonable time, then again, who’s to say at what time adults need to go to bed if there is nothing much waiting for them the next day? Now?! Isn’t that a musing for the end of the post? Possibly. But by the time I am done with the post, my train of thought will have changed. What doesn’t change on my Friday 5 is that we start with a song. Ready?
Song
People in Planes – last man standing
Apparently, this song by the Welsh band People in Planes was also in a promotional trailer the show The Walking Dead. I didn’t know about that until I did my research. The song can be found on the album Beyond the Horizon (2008). I love the energy of this song. It’s not a Popsong at all, but danceable or bounceable for sure

The post that was most read or liked last week was Confessions of a lazy writer
Visitors
The blog was once again read worldwide, which is something I like a lot. I am very grateful for this. Much like bands or artists I listen to, my tiny base is scattered all around the globe, which is very humbling. There aren’t thousands or even hundreds of readers, but enough to map the world. This week, the journey took us to:
USA 🇺🇸
Netherlands 🇳🇱
Singapore 🇸🇬
Canada 🇨🇦
Spain 🇪🇸
These stats change all the time and that makes it so exciting for me. I mentioned that numbers don’t really matter, but I like to find connections; I like to understand the why. But, why, as we all know is a question that rarely leaves us with a satisfying answer…
Thought
Most of my week was spent with extensive work on my new publication The August Current. You may be tired of hearing of it already but the way this one came together was magical. And I don’t use that lightly. It had to be this way. Maybe I am like a bloodhound once I am determined to get something done, it is the reason why this book happened in less than a month. It was never my intention to make it happen, but it insisted on getting birthed.
A second thought:
I am watching Blaze of Glory (young guns II) while writing this. Seeing this ensemble cast is a treat and the music is too. But the best part is, as people who know me will probably attest to, Christian Slater. His voice, his mannerisms, his eyes, his looks – he is the only actor I ever swooned or will swoon over. He turned 56 this month and he is as handsome as ever. Also, since what feels like forever my notification sound is Christian Slater as JD from Heathers saying “dreadful attitude, I apologize”. Something people around me don’t understand but I adore it nonetheless. (Young Kiefer Sutherland, Emilio Estevez, Viggo Mortensen, William Petersen, hell even Brad Whitford, Leon Rippy (I love it when he plays villains) or Scott Wilson are worth watching this 1990s classic too, for sure… I love movies and music…)
Until next week, or tomorrow? Who knows?

I wasn’t familiar with “last man standing”, but it’s terrific. The singer’s voice sounded very familiar, and a little digging revealed him to be Peter Roberts, who was later in the Welsh band Guide Dog, whose song “Generation Y” I wrote about in 2019.

Yes, that’s exactly him. He has a distinctive voice.
