Typed, tired, and proud

After admitting earlier this week that I had been lazy, I finally got up early today and began work on The August Current (working title).
To my own surprise, it turns out I have 90 handwritten poems and I typed every single one of them out today.

By the time evening rolled around, my neck and upper back were aching and my eyes felt heavy from staring at the screen for so long. But beneath the tiredness is a sense of pride that I finally did it. Ninety poems in one day. I am not sure I would recommend it, but it feels good to know the mountain has been climbed.

The layout is more or less complete now. Only a couple of things are missing before it becomes a publishable manuscript: a strong, memorable title and a fitting cover. That, however, belongs to tomorrow’s to-do list. For today, it is enough to know the words are where they belong.

Right now, I am off to make myself a cup of tea and watch something or other on a streaming platform. Just something easy to let the day fade out.

So yes, I pulled through. What about that? If all goes as planned, The August Current should be ready for publication sometime between mid and late September.

I do feel accomplished tonight. And as I said in my other post, it is thanks to you too. Writing here holds me accountable, it makes me turn the words I so often throw into the air into actions that carry weight. Thank you for being here, for reading, and for giving me the gentle nudge I sometimes need.
