a flicker in the rain

My light has dimmed,
but it never fades out.
A flicker dances in the dark,
a spark, fragile but alive,
waiting for the storm to pass.

Push the sky away—
let me breathe again.
Give me a chance,
as I drown beneath the weight of rain,
seeking air to fuel my flame.

But even storms must break,
and as the sky cracks open,
my flicker burns brighter,
fed by the very rain that sought to drown it—
a flame that consumes the dark.
