This was one of my most listened to and most favourite songs of 2023. Tonight, I got the chance to get tickets to their concerts in my small country and even though it is months away, I consider this an early birthday present. (My birthday is next Thursday, February 8th)
I am a lucky girl.
Also tonight, I was at a pub having dinner with my husband. There is always a lot of good music ranging from The Doors to Black Sabbath and all the classics in between. Tonight, it was as if their playlist was made for me. From mellow Glen Hansard songs, to Classic 80s and everything in between with one quite special song:
During my formative years and even a bit after, I was a big fan of Anathema. They were quite unknown and most people in my circles never heard of them. Tonight, at that pub, the above song played. And to be honest, it has never been a favourite (though it is quite good). But the fact that a song from that band came on triggered a whole lot of memories and… The smile, the content smile of a music lover who got her fix was definitely there. Blame it on the company (my husband), or the beer, or the song… It doesn’t matter which one…
The Soen tickets and hearing Anathema in a public space – that meant something to me. I am more or less content… These two things made me happy tonight.
