today is this blog’s 11th birthday. I don’t have cake yet, because I was busy with work and a headache.
In the past, I often shared some stats of the blog with you and I will do that today too.
Very easily put: for traffic, it was the worst year since 2017. The views and visitor counts are exactly halve of last year. And that is okay. I think, other years I would have overthought and I would have tried finding reasons and maybe excuses. But the truth is: there is a time for everything and maybe most of my words have already been said before. By me or by someone else.
I am posting daily, that’s true but I am not as visible or vocal on social media, which leads to lesser people being curious about me and/or my writing which leads to lesser traffic… it’s a natural evolution. But here is the thing: for the moment, I don’t plan on spending more time on social media. At the same time, if you like what you read, feel free to share links and posts with your friends, readers, followers. It would be much appreciated.

Thank you all for keeping me company, and for reading the letters I type that turn into words and sentences.
Oh… I found cake… Have some, and grab a drink too… Let’s celebrate and move on to the next year of blogging together. And remember: I love to chat with you in the comments, don’t be shy. I love you. *hugs*

Happy blog anniversary! Eleven years is a long time, and I for one am glad you’ve kept at it. My overall blog traffic is up a bit over last year, which is surprising since I’m barely posting at all, only once a week on average over the last three months. Some of my older posts, like my top 100 songs of the 2000s & 2010s, as well as my review of the Eagles concert, still garner new views every day, but most of my recent posts and the reviews I wrote earlier in the year haven’t done as well as they did in in the past. I will say that referrals from X and Facebook are way down.

Thank you for the kind words and for always being there.
I am sure next year will be a good blogging year for both of us again. And if not… Then it is not 🙂
Merry Christmas, my friend 🎁
