Rest in Peace, Your Majesty. I know many people around the world are very affected by today’s news, even people who say they are not royalists. I feel their sadness, their emptiness,and their shock.

Now, Elisabeth is reunited with Philippe. It’s a consoling thought. One could say the Queen was old, and yes she was, but she was an institution. King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will do their best in these very hard times to continue what Elisabeth started.

I live in the last remaining Grand-Duchy of the world. I am not a royalists, but there is a certain pride in the royal family. And I was also quite proud when the Grand-Duke’s son gave his first born daughter the name Amalia. Of course, my daughter is a bit older than princess Amalia. Also, since I am rambling, there is a Dutch princess called Catharina Amalia. That connection to my daughter and me is nice…
